Ah French food. You will always have a special place in my heart. With your buttery existence and your indulgent creams.
There’s a new gourmet food subscription that delivers French food products straight to your mailbox. October was the first month, and it seems that the boxes kept them a little busy! I received a complimentary box this month to review, and my honest opinion? I love it. Here’s how the process went for me.
Get the box (see above). <squeal of excitement>.
Slowly open it <carefully>… and discover a beautiful blue packaging. Inside it, a nice handbook describing all the products with some short stories.
Spend about 10 minutes just <oohh-ing> and <ahh-ing> over all the goodies delivered straight from France! All of the items were so nicely packed and I almost felt bad taking them out of the box and their cozy spaces. But of course, it had to be done, because I kept smelling something delicious in the box. As I dug around and unpacked, I found a peppered dried saucisson, all nicely wrapped up! A real saucisson! From France! I felt like I hit the jackpot. There was no question about which item I was going to try first.
And here’s what all came this month:
- Wild Toar Rerrine with Hazelnut and Tangerine
- Pepper-Coated Saucisson
- Petits Sablés
- Terrine de Magret de Canard Miel des Cévennes
- A Fondant au Chocolat Baking Mix
- Tomato & Sweet Pepper Spread with Anchovy & Garlic
The saucisson did not disappoint one bit, and it was gone rather quickly! I’ve almost ordered myself more online directly from France, but I can’t get myself to pay the 16€ shipping fee… I think I just need the right special occasion.
The sablés followed next. Chomp chomp and they were gone. Sweet and buttery. I didn’t have any eggs at the moment, so the fondant (which required butter and eggs to be added to the mix) had to wait. And I’m planning on taking the other items with me on my getaway next weekend – a canal boat trip in Brecon Beacons, Wales. We have a little kitchen on the canal boat, so I’m hoping to enjoying some French delights on it!
This was such a wonderful box of delights. Thanks to Bonjour French Food for sending me one to review. They also have a promo code now, so if you would like to try, use ILOVEFRENCHFOOD at the checkout for £5 off.
