Happy Thanksgiving from London! I saw my husband twitter-ing away earlier and he wrote a Thanksgiving Haiku that seemed too relevant not to share:
Today’s Thanksgiving / So stuff your face until you’re / Really really full
…I really hope you are taking the Haiku lesson to heart today!
We are hosting a group of friends over tonight for our second friendsgiving in London. The turkey is in the oven, the mac and cheese is done, and the salad is ready to go. I feel like I can replicate a Thanksgiving meal here in London, but I can’t replicate the spirit of Thanksgiving: I spent the day alone in my kitchen (while everyone else was working), our guests aren’t coming until 7 PM, and there’s no Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV!
Sometimes, I really miss home, but I’ve learned that it’s just about finding ways to bring “familiarity” and “home” to wherever you might be. So, I did just that and made some Apple Cider Donut Holes, which always brings me back to my favorite farmer’s market in Chicago, where I first came across these delicious apple cider donuts.
I initially developed this recipe for Wayfair.co.uk a couple of weeks ago, but making them again today inspired me to share it with you! You can find the recipe for Apple Cider Donut Holes on their site.
