Simple Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter -cold (225 grams)
  • 1 pound cream cheese (500 grams)
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar (435 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • Cut the butter into small cubes. Mix the butter with the cream cheese until smooth.
  • Mix in the vanilla. Slowly add in the powdered sugar by spoonfuls, mixing after each addition. 
  • If needed, refrigerate to stiffen the frosting.
