This Avocado Smoothie with Hemp Seeds will give you a burst of energy to start the day! Made with avocado, bananas, greek yogurt, almond milk and hemp seeds.
Eight days into the new year! We've made it through the first full week, plus some! How has your 2015 been so far?
The coffee shop I work at was closed between Christmas and New Years, and I missed the hustle and bustle of chatting with hundreds of customers a day. So it feels really good to be back behind the machine pulling espresso shots, steaming milk, and of course, hearing all the customers' holiday stories. But the hardest part for me was adjusting back to the barista morning schedule and wake up time.
The harshness of the alarm sounding at 6 AM, and the need to bundle up and go outside before the sun was even up, really gave me a jolt back to reality. The only consolation is that I walk by another coffee shop on the way into work, and I see those unlucky baristas already working and setting up their shop, at least 20 minutes before my shift starts. That makes me feel slightly better about being awake at such ungodly hour, until I start to feel guilty about taking joy in their early starts.
So this week, while I've been struggling to get out of bed, this Avocado Smoothie with Hemp Seeds has been holding my hand. I've had it for breakfast several times this week, and as with most smoothies, it is so easy and quick to make. What I love about this smoothie in particular though is that it is so filling it keeps me going until lunch (or at least my morning snack attacks)! It's made with avocado, banana, greek yogurt, almond milk, oats, and hemp seed. All of the wholesome ingredients blend together to make a creamy smoothie with a nutty taste.
Ingredients
- 1 medium ripe avocado
- 1 medium banana - sliced and frozen
- ½ cup instant oats (porridge oats)
- 1 cup almond milk
- ½ cup low-fat greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon shelled hemp seeds (plus more as desired)
Instructions
- Blend everything in a blender and mix until smooth. Sprinkle on additional hemp seeds on top and serve.
