This Banana Whipped Cream is so easy to make. You only need 4 ingredients to make this Banana Whipped Cream -- a ripe banana, whipping cream, sugar and vanilla extract. Serve this on a bowl of fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles, or anything that you desire!
There is a charity run that takes place in London where all the runners dress up as gorillas. Not just a little bit gorilla, but a full-on-suit gorilla, down to wearing a gorilla headpiece (and of course, a hipster sweatband). The run goes through the heart of London, across the Tower Bridge and by the London Eye and St. Paul Cathedral. It's capped at 800 runners, representing the total number of mountain gorillas still living in the wild.
The charity is aimed to save the world's last remaining gorillas in the wild from extinction. It does so by funding several grass-roots projects that are run by local African partners, and are aimed at tackling various threats to the gorillas' long term survival. I'm so happy to say that my husband, Jonathan, will be one of the runners that day. Way to go, my monkey-muffin!
I can't wait to see the city overtaken by gorilla-runners. And in the spirit of it all, I'm sharing my newest creation, which features none other than bananas!
This Banana Whipped Cream is super easy to make. You whip the cream, sugar and vanilla, and fold in a very very mashed banana at the end. Use a ripe banana with some good spots on it.
You only need four ingredients for this easy banana whipped cream
Unlike banana bread, there is no need to use an overly ripe banana, but just one that is ripe and soft enough to mash easily. Be careful, if you use one that is too ripe, your Banana Whipped Cream may taste a bit like fermented fruit, and that probably won't be too pleasant.
One trick for mashing bananas is to use a hand mixer. If the banana is ripe enough, you should be able to just about puree it with the use of a hand mixer on low speed. My workflow when making this recipe is to use the hand mixer to "puree" the banana, wipe the beaters clean, then in a separate bowl, whip the cream, sugar and vanilla together. Lastly, I fold the banana puree into the whipped cream with a spatula.
This Banana Whipped Cream is so easy and simple to make - minimal effort and dishes required
There you have it. Easy to make, easy to clean! 2 bowls, 1 set of beaters, and 1 spatula. You can spoon the Banana Whipped Cream onto whatever you are eating, or if you so fancy, the Banana Whipped Cream is also stable enough to be piped.
I ended up making little strawberry and biscuit jars to top with this Banana Whipped Cream, but really, this Banana Whipped Cream can go on anything - waffles, pancakes, peaches, banana bread, blueberry muffins, and probably even over an iced blended mocha.
Since I recently came across these adorable french petite jars, I've been looking for any excuse use them. And each day I walk by a farmer that sells cute little strawberries for a quid. Naturally, those fit perfectly in the jar. On last thought, I added a some crispy sponge fingers I was snacking on into the jars too. I topped it all off with the Banana Whipped Cream.
Use this Banana Whipped Cream to top on your favorite breakfast and brunch dish
I'll leave you with the recipe for the Banana Whipped Cream, as well as the recipe for these strawberry biscuit jars. I call it a recipe, but there's not too much to it - just break apart some lady fingers, top it with chopped strawberries, then finish it off with the Banana Whipped Cream.
One last thought - I used my DIY vanilla extract made with gin in this recipe. And since there is no baking or cooking involved to burn the alcohol off, it is essentially like adding half a shot of gin to the Banana Whipped Cream. It adds a beautiful flavor to it, and no one will ever guess that your whipped cream is spiked. Enjoy!

- 1 medium ripe banana
- 1 ¼ cup whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon superfine icing sugar

For the strawberries and biscuits jars
- strawberries - washed and chopped into pieces

- Spoon or pipe over anything!
For the strawberries and biscuit jars
- Break 3 crispy sponge fingers into each jar and top with a generous handful of strawberry pieces.
- Pipe the banana whipped cream over it using a large piping star.

These are too stinkin' cute! Love the jars, and the way you can see the layers peeking through. And the gorilla run sounds hilarious. What a fun way to raise awareness!

Thank you so much! These are so fun to make. I just need to expand my collection of mason jars to make more :) I posted a picture of my husband, dressed as a gorilla in my latest post... he was a real dapper gorilla!

Beautiful presentation. I'm drooling. BTW...I couldn't help but notice the connection between the banana whipped cream and 800 gorillas.
Tina Jui says
Haha I'm sure the 800 gorillas would love some banana whipped cream :)

This looks awesome! Something so simple yet I would have never thought of it! However, I don't think I would bother with the piping or strawberries. This looks like something I would eat straight out of the bowl I made it in.
Tina Jui says
Yes, it's hard not to just eat it all from the bowl!

Strawberries and cream is a combination made in haven! It is not just for Wimbledon time...I can have it any day! Adding banana to this perfect mix sounds great Tina! I'm not a fan of sponge fingers, so I will try this one with shortbread biscuits instead.
Tina Jui says
That sounds delicious. I will have to try that next time too.

How long will the frosting last in the fridge (or on the cupcake)?
Tina Jui says
Whipped cream is best when it is made, so I would recommend eating it the same day. It's easy and quick to make, so it is normally not a problem. But if you need to keep it in the fridge, it can usually last up to 2 days. It might start to deflate though, so it may not look so pretty.

I prefer this way of eating bananas.
