Scrambled eggs with cottage cheese add an extra boost of nutrition and flavor in the morning
This is a really nice savory egg recipe. It's easy to make, healthy, and delicious.
My family loves it instead of regular scrambled eggs when we’re wanting an extra dose of protein, calcium, and flavor.
With just four main ingredients, you can quickly whip up a nutritious, flavorful breakfast. Your family will love the combination of cottage cheese and eggs!
Cottage cheese eggs are the perfect way to use up leftover cottage cheese
Cottage cheese is on our weekly grocery list for many reasons.
High in protein and fiber, it has a wonderful creamy texture and slightly salty flavor that’s delicious on its own as a snack or used in cooking and baking.
This scrambled eggs with cottage cheese recipe is one of my favorite ways to use up any leftover cottage cheese that we may have sitting around in the fridge.
Cottage cheese and eggs make for a satisfying low-carb breakfast
Scrambled eggs with cottage cheese is also low-carb, Keto-friendly, gluten-free, and diabetic-friendly breakfast option.
In fact, this recipe was actually inspired by a family member who has diabetes. Cottage cheese is one of her kitchen staples as it's high in protein and low in carbs, making it a safe and delicious breakfast option.
Ingredients for making cottage cheese eggs
To make this recipe, all you need are 4 main ingredients, plus a few optional seasonings, all of which are easy to find at your local grocery store:
- Eggs
- Cottage cheese
- Avocado Oil
- Chives
- Everything seasoning
- Salt and pepper
Why Avocado Oil?
When it comes to high-heat cooking, I like to use avocado oil as it has a higher smoke point than many other healthy oils.
It’s also a rich source of a healthy fat called oleic acid, which is also found in olive oil, and many important vitamins and minerals like magnesium and vitamin E. You can read all about the benefits of avocado oil for your diet, hair, and skin in this article.
Avocado oil is also one of the oils that you can use on the paleo diet.
While avocado oil can be a bit more expensive than other cooking oils, I like this brand, which you can buy for a good price at Costco.
I love adding Everything Seasoning
If you haven’t tried it yet, everything seasoning is a game-changer when making eggs.
Made with white sesame seeds, sea salt, dried garlic, dried onion, black sesame seeds, poppy seeds, a little sprinkle adds an irresistibly savory flavor and satisfying crunch to this scrambled egg recipe.
Don't forget the Everything seasoning. It really takes these eggs over the top and is handy for sprinkling on other dishes like baked chicken, breakfast casseroles, roasted vegetables, and even pizza dough.
Go easy on the salt
Cottage cheese is usually a bit salty, so if you are used to adding salt to your eggs, you may be able to cut down a bit. Especially if you use everything seasoning.
I recommend adding the everything seasoning first, tasting, and then adding a pinch of salt if needed.
How to make scrambled eggs with cottage cheese
Making scrambled eggs with cottage cheese couldn’t be easier! All you need is a large mixing bowl and a skillet.
Start by whisking the eggs until frothy, then stir in the cottage cheese and chives.
Note: it’s perfectly okay for lumps from the cottage cheese to remain! They’ll get nice and melty once you start cooking.
From here, all that’s left is cooking your eggs over medium heat until just done. If you notice your eggs are cooking too quickly, reduce heat to medium-low.
TIP: Use a silicone spatula for making scrambled eggs. Unlike other cooking utensils, it’ll be able to really get under the eggs when stirring and help avoid your eggs from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Once cooked, plate the scrambled eggs and top with everything seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Add a side of sausage for a filling, low-carb breakfast
For the ultimate low-carb, high-protein meal, I recommend pairing these cottage cheese eggs with one of my homemade sausage recipes:
Of course, if you don’t need a low-carb meal, you can also serve these eggs with fresh fruit, whole grain toast, or a slice of spelt and buckwheat banana bread.
These cottage cheese eggs are a creamy, protein-packed upgrade to traditional scrambled eggs
I really hope these scrambled eggs with cottage cheese make it on your table soon. It’s definitely a recipe we make when we’re craving a flavorful and filling twist to our usual scrambled eggs.

This is amazing, a great reasonable-calorie way to get my morning protein! Sure beats those frozen breakfast sandwiches with 400 cal and 14g protein!
