Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is a favorite breakfast
As we nestle into October, all spotlights are on pumpkin!
I wish pumpkin was not considered a seasonal ingredient. You can get it year-round. And pumpkin itself is so healthy and tasty.
So, I'm on a mission to change that! Hopefully this recipe will convince you that pumpkin should be served year round. Pumpkin breakfast recipes can be your new best friend.
This pumpkin pie smoothie is a delicious breakfast that will power you through the morning.
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is packed with protein, fiber, nutrients and vitamins
There are lots of reasons to love this recipe. Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins. It's also high in protein, and rich in fiber. Lastly, it is very tasty.
This smoothie also wins because it's a breakfast that everyone loves. Moreover, it's very easy to make. You can probably whiz it together even in a sleep-deprived state.
Ingredients
In all seriousness, this pumpkin smoothie recipe contains all natural ingredients.
- Pumpkin puree (canned or homemade)
- Bananas
- Yogurt
- Milk
- Spices
- Just a touch of maple syrup
When mixed together, one cup of pumpkin pie smoothie gives you 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. That is in addition to a good dose of potassium, calcium, vitamin A and iron.
Pumpkin and banana make this smoothie naturally sweet
Pumpkin and bananas are naturally sweet. As such, this smoothie is pleasantly mild without any additional sweeteners.
Adapted it to have less sugars
The ingredients are all safe and healthy, even for a toddler. To make this pumpkin smoothie even more kid-friendly though I sometimes make it with even less sugars.
To do that, I swap out the vanilla Greek yogurt with plain Greek yogurt. If you want even less sugars, you can reduce the amount of maple syrup too.
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie has a velvety texture
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is one of the tastiest ways to get a big dose of nutrients and fiber. Imagine having a velvety soft serve that is just thin enough to drink through a straw.
It is almost like drinking a cream dessert. You might even forget that it is a healthy smoothie.
Because of that, it is very much deserving of its place at the breakfast table. All. Year. Round.
